Four men have been arrested here on charges of being concerned in the robbery of notes and gold, valued at £1000, from the Cargo branch of the Australian Joint Stock Bauk on June 20th. One witness deposed that one of th- accused told him he would, with the assistance of three others, stick up the Bank. PROPOSED MILITARY TOURNAMENT. It is proposed to hold a military tournament in the spring open to representatives of Australasia. THE NEW ZEALAND FOOTBALLERS. One of the largest gatherings of New Zealauders ever held in Sydney took place to-night to welcome the football team. The reception took the form of a theatre party, the whole Of the dress circle in Brought : and Boucicault's house being occupied by Maorilanders. THE STANDARD BANK. Melbourse, June 29. The Court has sanctioned the reconstruction scheme of the Standard Bank on the condition that £500,000 worth of preference shares are taken up before July 21st. THE SHIP BEACONSFIELD. Adelaide, June 29. The ship Beaeousneld, with a cargo of timber from Puget Sound, which ran- ashore at Shoal Water Point, has been floated. ANOTHER FAILURE. Brisbane, June 29. Messrs Wallace, Warren and Co., general merchants, have failed- with liabilities amounting to £32,000. THE TRAMWAY STRIKE. Tbe tramway strikers are showing active hostility towards the new men replacing them.
