to the editor of the press. Sir,—l have read "Old Playgoer's" letter, which is on a subject which jusb now is certainly more interesting than anything occurring in bhe world of politics and commerce. I must admit bhab the performances ab bhe theabre jusb now are nob of a class calculated to appeal to tho higher intellectual or emotional faculties of men and women. Bub we cannot be always baking our relaxations ab high pressure. I bhink ib does good somebimes bo see some nonsense and have a good laugh ab ib. I musb admib thab I gob a good deal of innocenb amusement frcm the drolleries of Mr Lonnen and the other prominent male comedian when I saw one of bheir performances bhe obher nighb. The ladies of the company did not seem to mc to be of such dazzling beauty or to wear such scanty attire as to raise in mc any feelings other than those of a very mild admiration of the marvellous suppleness of their limbs.—Yours, &c, Young Playgoer.
