Ooly one tender was received for forming *ad shingling the road at Rotherham, which was considered too high. The Overleer was instructed to hire teams and do the work as soon as possible by day labour, and to repair the Waiau-Kaikoura road, and the cutting leading to Sherwood at once. It was resolved that the Clerk be tntii-rised to write to Messrs Stringer and Crwwdl, and ask if they are willing to accept the position of solicitors to this Council. On the motion of Cr. Adams, seconded by Ct. Thomson, it was unanimously resolved— "That a general rate of three-eighths of a peniiy in the £ be now made and levied spoil all the rateable property within the Amuri County for the period commencing tm the Ist day of April, 1895, and ending on theolstday of March, 1894, such rate to become due and payable in one sum at the Coanty Council office, Waiau, on the 24th day of May, 1893." The rate book was then signed by Crs. D. IX Macf&rlane and Wm. Thomson. Cr. Mcßae asked that the Overseer be instructed to meet him at Tekoa, in order to inspect tho new cutting leading into the ilandamus river with a view to devise the best means to protect it from the action of that river, which now threatens to damage ft. The Overseer was ordered to attend as requested. Accounts amounting to £196 4s 7d, were pasted for payment, and the Council adjourned until Saturday, 10th June: '
