AUSTRALIANS v GLOUCESIERSHIRE
-Electric Tdncnph—OopyrUhi. LONDON, May 17.
The rain which fell to-day made the wicket very heavy, and the Australian bowlers were simply unplayable, the innings of the Gloucestershire eleven closing for 41. Giffen took seven wickets for 11 runs; Trumble, two for 14; Coningham, one for 12. At the conclusion of the innings play was abandoned owing to the rain.
Runjit Singh, an Indian playing for Cambridge University against the Gentlemen of England, scored 46, and will probably be included in the University Eleven. [The "Indian" mentioned above ia a Hindoo prince, named Kumar Ranjitsinbji, who was born at Jamoagar, a feudatory State in the Bombay Presidency, in 187 Z. He was educated at the Bajkumar College at Rajkole, an institution. reserved for the young princes ot the province and conducted on the principles of the great English public schools. He arrived in England in 1888 and went to Trinity College, Cambridge. He has been very successful during the last two seasons, both in batting and bowling. He also won the Racquets and Lawn Tennis Championships of his College.]
