Miss Spilsbury is well known in Auckland, having made several appearances at the Police Court as defendant in cases in which her dogs had brought her into trouble. it is generally thought that Messrs Layer stud Patterson have made the nomination as a "jokt, but if so they have a curious idea of the jocular.
