London, March 13. ! Mr Gladstone is suffering from an j attack of influenza, and some anxiety ; is felt as to his condition. Money is being abundantly subscribed to resist the granting of Home Rule, and the agitation ia increasing. The proposal to hold a great antiHome Rule meeting in the Albert Hail in April has been abandoned. The proposal was mooted when it was expected that the gathering would be attended by 10,000 Ulster men, but as only 700 could come it was decided not to hold the meeting. Yielding to pressure from the Opposition, the Government has postponed the second reading of the Home Kule Bill till after Easter. Mr Hogan has given notice to ask if the Admiralty has received a report on the working of the Kanaka system. March 14. The Eadieals and Nationalists are much aggrieved at Mr Gladstone yielding to the Unionists, and postponing the second reading of the Home Rale Bill until after Easter. Mr Gladstone is better, but is still confined to his bed. A warm debate has taken place in the House of Commons on the report of tbe Evioted Tenants Commission. Mr Balfour insisted that it was a mere waste of papeT. Mr Morley, Secretary for Ireland, replied that the Government intended to submit for the consideration of members proposals based on the Commissioners' leport. ■
