Mr Bunoan Gilfea has accepted the position of Ageut-General in London for Victoria.
The Hdn.nlaiHncan Gillies, M.L.A., was born at Glasgow in. Jauuary, 1834, and went to Victoria in 1852. For some time he was engaged on the Ballarat goldfidds as a working miner. He entered Parliament as the. minors' , candidate iv 1859, and Iα 1868 became a member of the Sladan Ministry. Aβ a Conservative aad -freetrader he strongly opposed the Berry partyi He however entered the Service-Uerry Coalition Ministry ia March, 1&33, as Minister dfVßi' , vilwaye and Public Instruction. In 1836, oh tbe retirement of Messrs Service, Berry: and Kerferd, he, was nominated Premier under a fresh coalition arrangeaient with Mr Deakin, the new Liberal leader..
