CATHEDRAL SCHOOL.
The annual presentation of prizes in connection with this school took place on Saturday morninjj. The report of t_e.esamicer, Mr T. W. Rowe, M.A., was read, and stated that the nnevenuess in the work of the school, which was so noticeable two years ago, had almost disappeared, and the work was going on very smoothly. There were eighty-seven boys in attendance this year, against ninety last year, and seventynine in 1830. A very satisfactory report was read from the Head Master of the School of Art, who examined the boys in drawing. His Lordship the Bishop addressed the scholars, and expressed himself pleased at the evenness of the work. He then presented the prizes as under:—
Form IV.—Divinity, P. Earle ; Latin (upper) P. Earle, (lower) G. F. Williams ; French, P. Fryer; English, P. Earle; Mathematics (upper) P. Earle, (lower, Mr Gibson's prize) M. Gardner.
Form lIL (a) —Divinity, V. Merton; Latin, T. Paletiiotpe ; French, M. Gardner, English, F. Brittan; mathematics, ri. Palmer.
Form 111 (a) —Divinity, A. Bridge ; Latin, A. Cox ; English, W. S-aveley.
Form ll.—Divinity, C. Cook; Latin (upper) C. Cook, (lower) N. Menzies; English, H. Denniston ; mathematics (upper) J. Batham, (lower) C. Bowen.
Form I.—English, J. Vernon ; arithmetic, A. Steele.
Extra Prize3—Prof. Cook's prize for theory of music, Choirboys, (1) Gardner, (2) Lake. School prize for music, Walker 1. Lower div. (choir), Mr Tetidall's prize, V. Merton 1, Bunz 2. Drawing, G. P. Williams. Conduct in the house, A. Woolstein. Rev. W. Dunkley's prizes,— Fourth Form. P. Earle. Third Form (Upper), R. Lake; (Lower), A. Bridge. Second Form, L. Raiue. -Conduct in the Cathedral (Bishop Harper's prize), C. R. Black. Gymnastics, Kalder 1, F. Barker 2. The Very Rev. the Dean spoke a few words to the boys and congratulated them on the excellence of the report. The Rev. W. Dunkley and Professor Cook also briefly addressed the scholars and the proceedings terminated.
