Most of the business places at Port were closed jesterday. The vessels in harbour displayed their bunting, which had the effect of making things look very gay. The various excursions were well patronised, and in the early morniug the steam launches appeared in a fair way to do a thriving trade, but the rain, which came on shortly after ten o'clock, interfered very much with their business. The s.s. Rotorua arrived from Wellington yesterday morning, and sailed about 8.30 a.m. for Akaroa, with a number of excursionists for the regatta. She returned again in the evening, and then went on to l)unedin. The s.s. Jane Douglas returned from Akaroa last night with a large number of excursionists, who had been down to see the regatta.
