December 15. The explosion in the colliery, afe Ranfurling, in Wigan, originated in the engine-boase and stopped the ventilation of the mine. It is feared all those entombed have, been killed. Those engaged in the work of rescue are working long hours in an atmosphere almo3t suifeating. Fourteen bodies have been recovered from the Ranfurlingmine, in Wigan, and it is feared the search esswill find dozens more.
