ASHBURTON WOOL SALE.

Messrs Miles and Co. report as follows upon the Aehburcou Wool Sale, Held on Thursday, BCh December :— The iirst local sale of the season was held in the Orange Hail, in the presence of a large attendance of buyers, Including Colonial, English, aud Foreign representatives. The tocal catalogues of the brokers offering made up the respectable number of 32U0 bales, which is cousiderabiy in excess of former wool auctions in this quarter. Wβ commenced the sale punctually at three o'clock witb an entry of 775 bales'. There was exceptionally keen competition for all lots, but more particularly in light and bright descriptions of halfbred, iv fact all classes of lignt and bright sorts were contested for with coo sider&ble animation, and prices on the whole were, fully equal to the figures obtained at ChristchuLch sales on 25th and 2uth November. Owners seemed alive to the fact that this may possibly prove the best sale of the season, and we consider acted judiciously in accepting the figures as recorded below :— Haifored ruled from 6sd up to 9d.
