ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
On-Tuesday morning Mr Robert Watson, son ci Mr Geo. Watson, butcher, of Southbrook, while delivering meat met with a serious accident. A passer-by hailing him, his horse shied, and Watson slipped, from his seat, falling in front of the wheel, which passed over the right leg, crushing it from the ankle towards the knee. Dr. G. S. Clayton, who waa called in, did everything possible with the hope of saving the limb, but the heavy-laden cart must have' caused a severe fracture.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, December 6. The body of John McMarty, a lumper, who has been missing since 28th November, was found in the water at Port Chalmers early this morning. The deceased, who was forty-two and a native of Ireland, had complained of pains in his head and of sleeplessness. He had told his neighbour that he might do away with himself. The Coroner's jury returned a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane. AUCKLAND, December 6.
Two men have been drowned at the Great Barrier, but no particulars of the accident are yet to hand, nor are the names of the men known. '
_ MANAI A, December 6. Patrick O'Connor, a bush settler, was found drowned in the Otakehostream. It ia supposed that he slipped whilst crossing tbe stream, which waa in flood.
