Assaulting a Teacher.—Thomas Talbot*,, farmer, was charged with assaulting James Gillespie, teacher at tho Rangitira Valley Schoc 1, and also with using violent language i towards him in the presence of hia scholars. Mr Salmond tor complainant and Mr ifay for defendant. Mr Hay asked hia Worship to allow the charge to be withdrawn. His client had paid all ooßts incurred and given a written apology_ for hia conduct. Mr Salmond offered no objection, aud his Worship consented to the course p.*oposed. Civil Cases—W. McLeod v John Meo, claim £6 6s 6<", judgment for amount claimed, less £4 paid since service ol summvonv*; same v Mrs Hay, claim £4 Is 9d, judgment for plaintiff for £2 Is 9d, with coats;' C. Story v George Neville, claim £1 10a 66", livery charges, judgment by default for amount claimed and coßts; J. T. Douglas v James Patriok, claim £6 2s 6d. Mr Raymond for Plaintiff and Mr Hay defendant. This was a claim for damages through the defendant not allowing plaintiff to complete certain threshing. Evidence was given as to* the terms of the bargain alleged to have boen made, and also as to the profits to be made on threshing (estimated by two of defendant's witnesses at about £2 per thousand or rather less)< Judgment was given for plaintiff for 30% with costs.
