TEMPLE OF TRUTH.

9 ' The opening of the handsome building just completed by the Students of Truth at the corner of Madras and Gloucester streets took place yesterday, and was most successful "in*e'very Way. The auditorium was seated partially—to the extent of nearly 500—with the new chairs intended for use at. the services, whilst in the.gallery the sweep seats were put in. The proceedings commenced at 5.30 p.m., when tea was j served' in the dwelliug-house and in the j kindergarten building, which had been j prettily decorated with evergreens and flags for'the "occasion. The tables were provided and presided .over by ladies .connected with the work. The doors were-opened at 5.30 p.m., and for over an hour a steady stream poured in filling the tables. Many willing hands made light wbrki and the tea'waa soon despatched. Whilst those who had been served were waiting for the commencement of the proceedings in the Temple the Septette band played a number' of selections. At 7.30 Mr Cadwallader took the chair, and at this time the beautiful interior was a grand sight packed as it was with people. ; The -Chairman delivered a short-address as to the progress of the work, pointing out' that the best answer the Students of Truth, could give to the insinuations and calumnies that had been -so liberally showered upon '- them Was the building in which they were assembled,which had been built by Students, and on which hot ono shilling was owed except to Students themselves. The musical programme comprised " The Lost Chord "splendidly sung hy Mrs Edgar, which was encored ; "Angels ever bright and fair* by Miss Fanny Martin, which was also encored and responded to by ■*• The land o' tbs Leal" sung with much pathos. Miss Batcher sang ** I know that my Redeemer" very nicely indeed, and Master Hollow was deservedly encored for his "sing* ing-bf the " Choriaiter." Mr E. M. Sapdsteiu played a violin solo in 'G *"* by Beethoven, with organ _ccpjiip«_imeot w_ieh was very Mr H- Morrison, who w»s in fine voice, sang Faure's " Les Rameux," with violin and organ accompaniment. Mr j. Morrison not only played the accompaai' ments on the organ but also gave ac organ solo, "Marche MUitaire," well, MrCH. Mason sang Gounod's beautiful song ;" Nazareth " with much power and effect. "Short five minutes* speeches were delivered by Messrs Harris, Bidmeade, Welsford, Strlnglemaa, Gawen, Hart, Gray and Mrs" Worthington gave-an eloquent ad- ; dress, in the course of which waa urged those who had not heard the statements of the teaching of the -tudeiite to do so and judge for themselves fairly and impartially. Mr Worthington closed the evening With a powerful address, is tho course of which he emphatically claimed that the teaching was in the direction of the lifting of the race and improving-it, • .
