JUNIOR FLAG MATCHES.

The game Canterbury College Second v Linwood Second resulted in an easy victory for the former by .29 points to 4. Neither side was well represented, Linwood playing with thirteen men. The Greens played a jsood uphill game, while the College played their best game of the season. Their all rouud play was good, especially the tackling of Cocks, the full back. Tries were secured by Craddock (2), Allison (2), Dalgleish, Rutherford, and Hardcastle. Mules placed two difficult goals, while Allison converted three of the other tries. The most prominent among Linwood were . Stringer, McClenalian, Townsley and Whittle, the latter of whom potted a goal. In the match Kaiapoi Second v North Canterbury First the latter from the start had matters we!l in hand through the play of Wilson, Wilmot, Barlow, Sharland and James. The latter obtained two tries, one of which Wilson converted into a goal. Wilmot obtained two tries, one of which Wilson also converted, giving the North Canterbury men a total score of 14 points. The Kai ipoi team, though Hylaud, McGregor, Bobilliard and Pearce did some very hard work for their side, failed to score. The Lyttelton met and defeated Sydenham Second by 5 points to 2. Page potted a goal and Berry scored a try for Lyttelton, and Lawrence scored for Sydenham. In the match Cambridge First v Merivaie Second, the former won by 10 points to nothing. The Christchurch Second met and defeated the Christ's College team, after a very interesting game, by 18 points to nil. The fast play of the College was very noticeable iv the first spell, but the heavy forwards of the Christchurch proved too much for them in. the. second. For Christchurch, W. Wilkinson played the best back game, and Hailamore and Mitchell were the best of the forwards. For the College, Murphy and Upton, backs, and Lingard and Quill, forwards, played well. Tries were obtained by Wilkinson (2), Barnes, Papperill and Gardner, and Marchaht kicked two goals.
