At a public meeting, convened by the Ministers' Association? to consider the best means of putting a stop to the growing evil of gambling, resolutions were passed, asking the employers of labour to prohibit befctibg on then? premises; asking the Press to use its influence to condemn the spirit of gaming; disapproving the practice of holdmg raffles and art unions and bazaars held for Church and charitable purpose!, and petitioning the House of Representatives to abolish the totalisator. It is also recommended that circulars promoting battfag and gaming should not be allowed to pass through the Post Office, and that it be made criminal for a bookmaker or anybody eteerto bet with a youth under seventeen years t of ■'•" '•■_____. ■■•■■■- :
