As has very often happened in the history of suppressing foreign diseases among lire stock Iα this country, says the : Live Stock Journal, the drastic measures adopted to get rid of one pest (foot and mouth) have resulted in the temporary extinction of another (pleuro). So far as the Agricultural Department are aware, there are only a few cases of pleuropneumonia in Great Britain at the present moment — these being in the London dairies* Unfortunately, the disease still lingers in the Dublin dairies; and the authorities at Dublin Castle are entrdated to take a firm hand and cleanse tbeir fine breeding country from this subtle disease. The town dairies are always the centres of it. In the month of. September last the board had forty cases in hand inJEngland and-Scotland which have been stamped oat, "and daring the last six months there have been only forty cases altogether, and of these nearly seventy-five per cent were dairy cow*.
