Mr Matthews, Home Secretary, declines to reduce Mrs 6sborne/a -sentence, ' f Mrs Hargreave's jewefs in connection with the robbery of which Mrs Oaborne was sent td gaol, have been sold by auotion, aiid realised iSHOO. It will be remembered that these jewels, which consisted of thrss pairs of earrings, two of pearls and ono of diamonds, were stolen by Mrs Cteboroe before she was married, from her friend, and sold to Messrs Spiak and Sons, jewellers, London, for £550. The fictitious price at which they have jusfc been sold is doubtless due to the interest which attaches to them as being the cause of one of the saddesfc' causes eclebres of latter days,
