The front of the buildinf? la a picture in itself, the walls are handsomely painted, while on the four front windows are depicted four of the principal New Zealand scenes. These are paiuted ou the glass in transparent oils, and are paiutiugs of the highest order, attracting the attention of passers by. Inside the tesselated vestibule which is handsomely fitted with cedar show cases, the work of the firm is shown. It would be difficult to imagine more beautiful and successful specimens of the Photographer's art than the portraits of the Rev. Chas. Clsrk. J. J. Toole, Esq., Bishop Julius, and Lord Onslow, while the portrait of Sir Win. Jervois reminds us ot the stately and military form of our late Governor. It is needless to say that the works surrounding these well-known portraits are a clear evidence that special reliance can be placed in the Eden George Co., Limited, for all kinds of photographic work. To describe the extravagant furnishings of this room would be impossible. It is gratifying to find the firm who are taking so much of the Christ church money spending so large a sum annually that'it must cost to keep up this style. The gallery, which is of the latest improved principle, is a spacious compartment, 40 by 20. The great variety of backgrounds anc? acce-isoriea demonstrate the fact that the firm are determined not to have the similarity in their portraits as is such a great objection with other photographers. At the back are three large workrooms, each 30£t. Here twenty-seven assistants are at work, while the benches are literally crowded with photographs. Marble slabs are used iv these rooms to ensure cleanliuess, while a No. 4 ram and gas engine drive the water from a second strata well up to the tanks above, so that an ample supply is obtainable for the washing of prints after each manipulatiou.
