PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.
(press association telegram.)
AUCKLAND, February 11. In the Presbyterian Assembly there was a prolonged debate on the report re training of students, strong objection being taken to the recommendation from the Christchurch Presbytery that greater prominence be given to the employment of lay missionaries. No decision could be arrived at, and the report was eventually shelved by a motion that it be received. Dissatisfaction was expressed that & larger number of ministers d£a not take advantage of the widows and orphans' and aged and infirm ministers' funds. A resolution was passed instructing the Committee to consider the desirability of the incorporation of both funds.
