LODGE MEETINGS.
The half-yearly meeting of tbe Oak of Sydenham.Lodge was held on Wednesday night. There was a large .attendance of members. The Auditors read the Secretary's -balance-sheet, and gave in their report; showing that although the Lodge had experienced a large amount of sickness owing to the influenza epidemic, yet the profits for the term were very gratifying; and altogether the Lodge was in a most flourishing condition, which was owing to a very large extent to the good management of their officers. The report aud balancesheet were adopted. The following officers were then elected for the ensuing term:—J. Stewart, AD.; W. Harris, V. A. ; J. Hadfield, Secretary " (reelected) ; W. Brew, Treasurer (re-elected)'; W. Manhire, M-S.; Jos. Harris, LG. ;W. Barnettand R. Harris, AD.Bs ;R. Belts and J. Betts, V.A.8.8; S. Pearce, Q.G.; J. Walker, Auditor. J. Fisher, P.A, was nominated as D. P. District President Bro. Manhire then duly installed the various officers. The Secretary brought nnder the notice of the Lodge a letter that bad appeared in the *' Lyttelton Times " on the 12th, which dealt with the private business of the Lodge. He deplored that members should so far forget their obligation as to be guilty of such a thing, which was a gross breach of privilege. It was decided to call a summoned meeting by advertisement op February 10th to take into consideration the advisability of applying to the Grand Lodge of Australia for permission to join the District Grand Lodge of Canterbury. Two candidates were initiated into membership and one proposed for membership; It was decided to make the usual'presentation of P.A..diploma to P.A Bro. K. Hadfield and place his name on the. respect board. A hearty vote of thanks waa pat*sed to P.D.P. JU-G- J. Harris and P.A. G. HJuris, Wfho acted as scrutineers during the election of officers. Votes of thanks having been passed to the installing and retiring officers the Lodge was closed. Lodge Dauntless No. 7, LO.G.T.,'held its usual session in the Blue Ribbon HalL There was a large attendance of members and visitors, Bro. Eastwood presiding. A large amount of business was transacted and steps were taken to relieve a sister who was utterly destitute. A Committee was appointed to arrange, prdiminaries for entertainment in 'February. Some good songs and recitations were given ana an enjoyable evening was brought to a close at Q.45n.r0
