CHRIST'S COLLEGE v OTAGO BOYS HIGH SCHOOL.
The annual match between the above institutions was commenced on the College ground yesterday, when the home team had all the best of the game, as when stumps were drawn at seven o clock the Hioh School bad but three wickets to fall, and were still 107 runs to the bad. Watt, the College Captain, batted weU i» each innings, and in the first venture n* was ably seconded by Davie, who made ais 38 without giving a chance. The beat batting on the viskors' side was shown by Macassey, the majority of the remainder of the team showing very tame cricket. The game will be finished tomorrow morning. The Junior Cup match between the United and Lancaster Park teams, which rain prevented from being finished on Saturday, was brougnt to a conclusion at Hagley Park last evening, when the United were returned winners by seven wickets. Scores:—Lancaster Park, 134 and 421 (Brooke 44 and Hasaal Iβ); United, 219 and 37 for three wickets (Maxwell 14). The best bowlers last night were Beswick for the United aud Cane fur the Park. A strong team of the Carisbrook Club (Dunediu) will visit Canterbury duriag the holidays playing Timaru at Timaru on Boxing Day; Ashburton, at Ashburton, on December 28th; Lancaster Park, at Lancaster Park, on December 29th; Ashley County, at Rangioru, on December 30th, and the United Club, at Haglay Park, on New Year's Day. The following will probably represent the bouthern Club; — jr. zxarper (captain), T. Xi. Austiu, Rattcaj, Rovve, Lawton, H. D. Stronach, Fisher, Hope, Beck, E. J. Austin and Vernon. A team representing the Ashburton Club played a match .against Chertsey on Saturday, at Chertsey. The home team won the toss and wenb to the wicket*, their first inninga closing for 47, Maxwell knocking up a well J played 21 and Todd putting together 11. Ashburton then went in and made a total of 76, Denshire contributing 27 not out, Dixon, 11 and Cuthbertson 10. Chertsey, in their second innings, succeeded in making 95, the feature of the innings being Wright's score of 56 not out. Ashburton replied with 33 for the loss of three wickets, A. Buchanan making 21 not out. Todd bowled remarkably well for Chertsey, taking ieight wickets for 37 runs, and Dixon and Moore bowled well for Ashburton. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs H. W. Paraona and several other ladiee and the cricketers were highly pleased with the warm hospitality extended to them.
Second Innings.
A match was played on Saturday between the Weedons and Spring ton Clubs, at Weedons. In the first innings Weedons made 32, Springston 34. In the second attempt Weedons closed their innings with five wickets down for 75; Springston responded with 59, leaving Weedons victorious by 14 runs, For Weedons Geo. Gudsell scored 12 and 34 not out, and J. Curragh 13, and for Springston J. Hunt made Iβ. For Weedons Gudsell and Trickett bowled well, as also did Pearson and McDonald for Springston.
