NORTH CANTERBURY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

TO THB XDITOK Of TSJt PBKSS.

Sib,—Kindly insert a few lines in your Valuable paper on the above heading and you will obfige. I see by a report l*™ 1 ? publiehed by the North Canterbury Board of Education re the different schools that have been examined by the Inspectors or tteir substitute, and from what I can learn from it, there are some schools that have passed a creditable examination, and others havebeen mentioned in a manner that does not in any way enlighten the public and those who are interested in tee same, as to whether they were in the category of passed or partial failures. I think for onethat there ought to be a more distinct way in giving publicity to the same, instead of naming a few of those who have passed an honourable mention, and the balance of the number neither saying one tiling nor another as to their examination, but merely mentioning that they have been examined. For instance, the Kirwee District School has been mentioned as being examined, but as to whether -the North Canterbury Board of Education consider it b pass or not the people of Kirwee are quite in a Scotch mist; and, at the same time, considering that the Gebbie's Valley pedagogue has so recently made his appearance as a school teacher in this part of the North Canterbury Educational District, we should like by all means to give-honour to whom tonour is due. —Yours, &c, Vigilance.
