RIFLE SHOOTING.

■ The Bromley range was quite lively on Saturday afternoon with the number of competitions taking place. No less than three matches between companies and two prize matches were in progress, in addition to which several men were class firing. The range was taxed to its utmost capacity and it speaks well for the accommodation provided when about eighty men can get through the usual number of 'rounds during an afternoon. without inconvenience. Details are given below of the several matches. : • < < •

SYDENHAM v SCOTTISH RIFLES.

The above companies met at Bromley on Saturday, and a very close match was the result. -The day was good for shooting, and consequently both the aggregate, and in a number of instances, the individual scoring were first claes. Private Parker, of the

Scottish, takes pride of place with an evenly scored 79, followed closely by Piper Hedley with 78. Privates F. Bourdot, Parker, and F. Osborne were the top scorers for Sydenham. At the completion of the first range the Scottish were leading by 18 pointe, but on finishing the 300 yards the Sydenham managed to wipe off the deficiency, and come out 5 points to the good, which they maintained at the 500, thus winning the match by that number of points. The win of the suburban company must be regarded as a good one, when it is considered that this is the first time this season that they have put their shooting team in the field, and that their opponents are pretty strong.
