THE NEW ELECTORATES.

The following are the electorates as amended by the Representation Commission :—

Pareora—Comprises the whole of the Mackenzie County ridings of Lower Pareora, Upper Pareora, and that portion of the Otaio riding lying to the north of the Woolshed Gully road and east of the road leading past Bluecliffs to the Otaio river, and the whole of the Levels riding of the Geraldine County, excepting that portion in ths present Timaru electoral district, together with that portion of the Mount Peel riding lying to the west of the line running from the Waihi Gorge road to the summit of Four Peaks range, thence to the source of the south branch of the Orari river, theuce along the Orari river and Tripp's Pass road down to the north Opuha river and thence np that river to its source, and thence over the saddle and on to Forest Creek and that portion of the Temuka riding lying to the west of Ohapi Creek and south of Barker's road and that portion of the Raukapuka riding lying to the west of the Hae-Hae-te-Moana river west of Campbell's road, passing Woodbnry and the south Waihi river. The town districts of Temnka and Arowhenua are in this electorate. Timaru—This district is unaltered. Waitaki comprises the ridings of Hakateramea, North Waihao, Deep Creek, and Makikihi, of Waimate County, which is situated south of the Woolshed Gully road and west of the road leading past Bluecliffs to Otaio River, together with the ridings of Awamoko, Aburiri, and Otekaike of the Waitaki County, and that portion of the Waiareka riding of the last-named county, which lies to the north of the northern boundaries of Kauroo and Oamaru survey districts in the locality of Elderslie railway station, and that portion of the Papakaio riding of the Waitaki county which lies generally north of the line commencing at the western boundary of Block 3, Papakaio survey district, on road from Peebles to Duntroon, and following the western, northern and eastern boundaries of the said BloCk 3, and the northern and eastern boundaries of Block 4, Papakaio, to the railway line, and along the railway line to Waitaki bridge, and that portion of Inchobne riding of Waitaki County which lies north of the -Kauroo river, and-that part of Otepopo riding of the Waitaki County which lies west of the railway line and of Herbert township and north of the north branch' of the Waianafcarua river. This district includes also the borough of Waimate, and includes within its boundaries the township of Maheno. [V-tOM OUR CORESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, October 15. In addition to the local and general information already telegraphed respecting the new electorates as laid off by the Representation Committee, a few special particulars of the effects of the alteration may be interesting. The new scheme involves a number of alterations in the names given to seats as well as thegeneral arrangement of the boundaries. Newton disappears as a separate constituency, being absorbed in Auckland City. .Waa-pa is a hew seat, comprising the counties or Waipa West, Taupo East, Taupo and Plako, parts of Raglan and Kawhia counties, with the borough of Hamilton and the town __stri_ts of Te Awaanutu, Kihikihi, Ngaruawahia and Te Aroha. Bay of Plenty replaces Te Aroha, and comprises the counties of Ohinemuri, Tauranga, Whakatane and Botorua, and part of Thames, including the borough of Tauranga and the Opotiki town district. Waimea-Picton is altered to Waimea Sounds, and takes in the Sounds County and the greater part of Waimea County. The principal electorate in the Manawatu district is to be called " OtftkL" Hutt is thrown into the suburbs of Wellington constituency. In Canterbury the Akaroa, Geraldine, Heathoote. Ashburton, Waimate, and Halswell districts are abolished, and those of Riccarton, ! Rakaia, Rangitata, and Lyttelton are ' created. _-___u*u and Wairarapa are the only districts in the colony whose boundaries are unchanged. Dunedin Suburbs, Peninsula, Mount Ida, Port Chalmers disappear, and there will be Dunedin North, Waikouaiti, Waihemo, Caversham and Pareora. Wellington City is the only amalgamated constituency which becomes entitled to its three members without taking in some rural population outside the municipal boundaries, its 31,690 inhabitants bringing it just over the number required to qualify for three members. Auckland with a population of 31,082 has to receive 362 of outside people. Cl-riatchurch with 31,150, falls short of the quota by 304, and Dunedin having 30,004 inhabitants takes in 1153 from the outskirts. These are the prmcipal alterations made.
