DARFIELD SALEYARDS COMPANY.
The annual meeting of shareholders i& the Darfield Saieyards Company was held in the Darfield Hotel on Tuesday evening. Mr H. A. Knight occupying the chair. There was a good attendance. The Chairman' read the report, which showed that a very successful and increasing business had been done at the yards during the pasi year, the amount of stock passing through being 74,000 sheep, 173 head of cattle, 100 horses, and 200 pigs, < being an mcrease- ol 50 per. cent, on tho previous year's business. The balance-sheet submitted to shareholders showed the Company to be in, a sound position. The receipts during the year (including the previous year's t-Jance) were __227 6s 6d, the expenditure £___■ 2s 9d, leaving a credit balance of £74 3s 9d, whilst the total liabilities stood at £2755. The Committee recommended .the,usual dividend of 10 per cent, to be declared on the capital, and that a bonus of £5 be paid to the Secretary for his services ifa connection with contracts carried out under his supervision during the year, the remaining balance to be expended in further improving the yards. The report and baW-e-sheet was adopted. The following were elected a Committee for the year:— Messrs Knight,. Holmes, Gunn, Cough, Clinton, Jarman and Gillandera. Mr H. A. Knigjit was re-elected Chairman of Committee. After votes of thanks to the outgoing Committee, the Auditors and Ctuur* man was passed, the meeting adjourned.; '_;,
