WELLINGTON, September 10. Hazel, theatrical agent, who was found guilty of obtaining money from a new chum under the false pretence of patting it into a travelling company, was brought up to-day, and remanded for probation. The Chief Justice refused to reserve the law points . raised, on the ground that there was ~ nothing in them. The weal co-Operative Farmers' Alliance starts business with 664 shares, representing 106 applicants and £3320 of capital. The Directors were appointed to-day, and - premises have already been secured. It ' was decided to reduce the nominal capital from J8250.000 to £75,000. At the Supreme Court Christian Hansen, - for setting fire to the 'Island Bay Hotel, was sentenced to three years' hard labor. The charge of perjury against Nitiku Bapti, a Maori youth of Otaki, which resulted in the jury disagreeing last week, occupied all day again. At 8.30 p-m. the jury returned with a verdict of "Not Guilty." In the Divorce Court a rule was granted in Logan v Logan, a husband's petition, and neither the respondent nor Cleveland (a . half caste) co-respondent, were represented. GREYMOUTH, September 10. The National Bank of New Zealand shipped to-night for Melbourne 20510z 17dwt of gold, value .£B3IO. . At the borough elections to-day Messrs J. Campbell, F. W. T.ahman, and W. C.
