RAILWAY INSURANCE BILL.

DUNEDIN, September 1C A meeting of railway employees, ate tended by sixty, carried resolutions affirm* ing the desirability of establishing an in* surance superannuation fund, but suggesting important amendments in the Commieeioners' Bill, the principal being the limitation to insurance superannuation, striking out all sick benefits as interfering with the Friendly Societies' work; contribution* too high, especially in tbe case of men receiving low pay and young hands joining the car* vice. The Government to subsidise the fund by at. ..least five shillings in the pound. The contributions to cean after the employee has subscribed for thirty years. The age to be reduced to fifty-five or thirty yean* eervio*. Any employee reduced in the jerviee t* continue his contributions on the baeie of the pay at the time of redaction, provided he has been in receipt of such pay for three years immediately preceding each redaction, or to have the optioa off applying such excess of contributions between the higher and lower pay to liquidate his future contributions until such <expeee is exhausted, after which the contributions to be baaed on the rateof pay inclauseo". At a oreviousaaeeUM, attended by fully 250, maufl/from the Hill, aide wouahons, a resolution affirming to* desirability of the railway insurance scheme was rejected by a large majority.
