AUCKLAND, August 8. The tailoresscs on strike have been placed on strike pay. The dispute is still unsettled.

Intimidation of free bootmakers is being resorted to. Last night one man was assailed with rotten eggs, hustled aud threatened on leaving work. He had to retreat to the factory. Another case waa reported to the police. To-day police were stationed at the uoot factories on the men leaving work, Inspector Broham being determined to put down intimidation and lawlessness.
