SIXTH—The Accumulated Fund was incre&sed during the year by the sum of 1,742,311, equal to 71 per cent, of the gross premium re ceived. . SEVENTH—The deaths among lives assured were 649 under. .735 policies, causing claims upon the •Society amounting to L 299.602, Irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected aecord- < ing to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities .would have been 1143 for an amount of L 438,976, the mor 1 tality experience being thus ex-; tremely favorable. EIGHTH—The receipts from interest and rents were L 510,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims by L138,95_ NINTH—The expenses of Management were only 9.5 per cent, of the total receipts. TENTH—The cash surplus divided for the year RS# was L 426,494, beings at the rate of 41-5 per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the' forty-one years of its existence may be summarised al under; — It has issued 141,907 policies, assuring \ ' It has paid to the representatives of deceased members over L 4,000,000 in satisfaction of death and matured claims. .
