EARTHQUAKE IN THE NORTH
(PBESS ASSOCIATION T__GBAMS.) WELLINGTON, June 2. A slight shock of earthquake was felt in the city shortly after four o'clock this morning. : MARTON, June 2. A.very severe .shock of earthquake was experienced at a.m. throughout this district.. It waa preceded by aloud roar and a- sound 'like'an explosion. The direction was from north-west to south-east. BULLS, June 2. After the eai&hqualte this morning Mount Tongariro was observed emitting a column of fire and smoke, * which remained visible for, some time. .After sunrise the mountain was seen more clearly than ever before from Bulls. ■■'■' > BLENHEIM, June 2.
