The weather was remarkably fine for the time of the year, a light nor , -west breeze and sunshine making the afternoon almost like summer. The attendance was good. Handicap Maiden Trot (in saddle), of 20 soys. One mile and a half.

This was a very good race. Madeline led most of the way, then broke while on far side of course. Cass broke twice. Madeline broke again coining into straight. Cass when opposite stand came up, and split Dick Turpin and Madeline. A protest was entered by owner of Cass, but being considered frivolous, was dismissed. Time, smin. Dividend, £4 13s 6d.

Ida II led past the stand going well, followed closely by Winchester, Cygnet coming up very strong and passing the other horses quickly. Balderdash made good way at the first, but the second time round Cygnet was within fair heel of Ida n, and, running up the oif turn, overhauled Ida II quickly, Cygnet winning easily pulling up at the post. Time, 6min 4sec. Dividend, £3 03 6d.

Flora led for the first round, then Billy took the lead and maintained it well for some time, Flora keeping well at his heels. Potatau ran in third place, and gained rapidly on the far side, where he overhauled Billy, and in the home stretch came and won by about three lengths. Time, Bmin 54sec. Dividend, .£8 14s 6d. Scotty lead the first round, but Sambo picked up and passed him. Then Sambo breaking several times allowed Twilight, who trotted very steadily to win easily. Time, 6min 32sec. Dividend jfcll9s.

Remnant, going up fast from the first, got second place, but Timbuc breaking, Kemnant assumed the lead, Timbuc, however, sticking to him well. Sunlight worked up a good pace in the last round, and threaded his way forward, but was too late, Remnant coming up to the post still ahead. Time, 6min 39sec. Dividend, JBI 13s.
