NATIVE LAND LAWS COMMISSION.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.)
WELLINGTON, May 24.
Contrary to expectation, the report of the Native Land Laws Commission was not available to-day for publication. The reports of Messrs Bees and Carroll were not placed in the Native Minister's hands till a late hour last evening and Mr Cadman does not intend to present them to the Governor until he has received Mr Mackay's report, which will be available on Tuesday or Wednesday. Messrs Bees and Carroll differ in some respects in the conclusions they have arrived at, while Mr Mackay altogether disagrees with some of the statements contained in the report submitted by his two colleagues. It is said that several of the comments made by Messrs Bees and Carroll upon the actions of Parliaments and Governments are so severe that Mr Mackay considers that, as a Civil Servant, he ought not to subscribe to them.
