. CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, May 19. (Before R. Westenra and J. V. Rosa, Esqs., J.P.s). Dbukkenness. — John McViokera, who was charged with drunkenness, was re* manded for seven daya, for medical treat* ment. Mary Moxham, an old offender, was fined 20s, and 2s cab hire, in default ninety* six hours. Mary McMahon, alias Butler* was fined 10s or forty-eight hours.

Civil. Cases.—Hartigan v Doyle, claim £913s 2d. Mr Loughnan for plaintiff, Mi Kippenberger for the defendant. Judgment for plaintiff for £7 13s 2d, with coeti £2 12a. Cornelius v Kennedy, claim £1 8* 6d. Mr Joynt for the plaintiff. Plaintifi is poundkeeper at Dunsandel, and received into the pound a heifer, which was found to belong to defendant. Plaintiff gave notice to him, and, after going through the necessary formalities, sold tn< heifer, and now sued for fees, Sec, is excess of the sura for which the beast wai sold. The defence was that when the impounding was advertised the animal wai wrongly described. Plaintiff called the man who bred her, and ho stated that the dee* cription was correct. Judgment was foi the plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs and solicitor's fee, the Court expressing the opinion that the action was vexatious. Sey v lendergan, claim jfS6 8a for painting, paperhanging, <kc. Mr Meares for the plaintiff. Judgment for plaintiff for amount claimed with costs. Judgments went for plaintiffs by default, with costs, in Miles and Co. v Robinson, £8 Oβ 3d, an,d Reect and Son v Neighbours, £19 8a lOd.
