The monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, May llth. All the members were present. Mr Chapman was re-elected Chairman for the ensuing year. The Clerk was instructed to see W. Brown and ascertain how he was proceeding with his contract. Tenders were opened for falling and stacking shingle in Ruddenklau's pit and that of W. Dickens, at ls per yard, accepted. Letters were read from Wilder and Warner, asking permission to erect post and rail fence and gate, with lock, across the road leading to their land. Permission was granted, as asked for,- but not to lock the gate. The Ranger was requested to interview the Board next meeting, and explain certain matters in connection with his son impounding cattle. Permission was granted to Air W. Atkinson to plough the sides of the road on the usual conditions. Resolved —That the 30th day of June be the time fixed for the registration of dogs, and proceedings will be taken against owners of dogs not registered by that time ; also, that all rates not paid by the Bth day of June will be sued for. It was decided to call tenders for stone breaking on Anderson S and Kennedy's roads, and for breaking metal on Mill road. Mr Dickenson proposed—"That Mr Sidney Head be appointed Clerk to the Licensing Committee and Returning Officer to the Board, and to fill any ofiices vacated by the late Clerk. Seconded by Mr Tipping, and carried. The Clerk was instructed to poison the wheat as soon as possible. The paysheet, amounting to £76 7s lOd, was passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
