JUNIOR FLAG MATCHES.

The Kaiapoi team played the North Canterbury at Rangiora on Saturday afternoon, and were successful in lowering their opponents' colors by 2 points to nothing. The game was expected to be a close one, and -umpires and referee were selected .from amongst Christchurch officials. In the iirst spell the game was kept very mucfi to the forwards, and there was an absence of brilliant play, with the exception of a run by W. Uru, who caught a ball thrown in from touch, and rushing through 'ran over the Blues' line. The kick at goal was a failure. In the second spell the game was made faster, and some good play was shown by Uru, Barnes, Biirnip and McGregor for Kaiapoi, and Fitzgerald, Anderson and D'Auvergne for North Canterbury. Scott succeeded in getting a second try for jKaiapoi, which was not converted into a goaL The same side was very near scoring on more than one occasion, but the Blues tnanaged to clear their lines, and the game ended as above. The North Canterbury v Kaiapoi played an interesting match at Bangiora on Saturday. North Canterbury kicked off, and Almost immediately forced Kaiapoi down. •From the kick, the latter got the ball into thjeir opponents' quarters, where it was played nearly all through the spell In the Sniddle of the game, W. Thiring the last fluarter of an hour the play all lay in the Northern twenty-five flags, and Scott, of scored a second try aa the result of a dribble. Oram took the kick and failed. b. D'Auvergne and Anderson, for North Canterbury, showed excellent play, whilst nearly the whole of the Kaiapoi men were in good form. The game, East Christchnrch v Linwood, "resulted in a win for the former by 5 points to 1. From the kick, off the Easterns forced the pace, and very soon placed 4 points to their credit, but at the start the Linwood made matters warm for a while, scoring one try, then, until the whistle had Deen sounded, East Christchurch had the best of %he game. Messrs Izett (2), Shaw (2), DeMaus, Wallace, Atkinson, and for the LisVood, Sutherland, Orchard,,Darton and _-*rice showed good form. ■**/ • >•>•..'• - j Merivale Second beat Canterbury College by 3 goals and 2 tries (11 points to nothing.)
