STRANDING OF A SCHOONER.
(press association telegram.)
NAPIER, May 15. '
The schooner Opotiki, belonging to Auckland, arrived from Gisborne this morning. In trying to make the entrance she got broadside on to the breakers and drifted on to the beach northward of the westward pier. Captain Blackball and seamen Atkins and Wigg got ashore by a line. The vessel is now high and dry on the beach. There is a strong south-east gale, with rain.
