Curagoa' pleJw guilty to having etolen from Talbot*! boarding-house, High street, on April 9th one Bilk handkerchief, value 7a; on Anril 18th, two gold rings, value £2; and on April 22nd, one silver watch, value JB2. Inspector Pender stated that while on leave the prisoner lodged at Talbot's oa the dates named, and after he had left the artiolea were missed, and were afterwards traced to him. The case waa an exoopti to the conduct of the crew of the CuraooaL During her long stay in Lyttelton their behaviour had been exemplary. An officer of the ship, who waa present, aaid there waa nothing against the prisoner, who \?&s sen. tenced to two months' O n each offence, to run concurrently. Cases Dismissed.— J. W. Homer J, A. Homer, G. J. Homer, ani' R. Haskins were charged with having t&ken or killed native game out of eeaecm viz., one wild duck, at Lake EUea' mere, on March 31st. Mr Stringer, who appeared for the defendants, said the caaca had been called on at a previous sitting, and, on the application of Mr Spackman, who prosecuted for the Acclimatisation Society, they were adjourned for the production of tritnesses, he paying costs and expenses. Sinfce then Mr Spackman had written saying that) he intended to withdraw the information!, and defendants need not appear. As Mr Spackman did not appear, he (Mr Stringer) assumed that ho had since seen his witnesses and found that he had no case, and it was now asked that the cases might be dismissed. If they were allowed to be withdrawn other informations might Dβ afterwards laid. The informations were accordingly dismissed, the prosecutor to pay solicitor's fee, £1 Is.
