The Hon. R. Seddonleftto-night for Whangarei, and will proceed thence to the Puhipuhi field, returning to Auckland by way of Russell on Thursday. WELLINGTON, May 12.
The Minister for Education is preparing a Bill to amend the School Committees Election Act of last year. The Government have still under consideration the details of the new financial proposals. Nothing yet has been settled as to the shape the scheme of taxation shall take. (There are several forms of land tax and income tax under discussion, but the exact combination and graduation which shall produce the requisite revenue have yet to be decided.
NAPIER, May 12. The Minister of Lands arrived from Auckland, over land, last night. Hβ goes on to Waipukerau this afternoon, and will file the guest of Mr W. C. Smith, M-H.R. Eβ stops to-morrow night at Danevirke, fefter inspecting the Native bush lands. ■y INVERCARGILL, May 12. The Hon. Mr Ward leaves for Wellington 4ihie afternoon on Cabinet business.
