LINWOOD TOWN BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, at 7.30 p.m. Present —Commissioners Bergh (chairman), Atkinson, Alexander, W. Smith, Hardie and Pentecost. Correspondence was read from —Mr C. W. Hill, notifying having given up possession of land in Armagh street. deceived. Drainage Board, granting permission to connect the Rolleston street channel with the outfall drain. Besidente in Livingstone street, asking that a concrete channel may be laid on the s?uth side. Resolved that the application be received and acted upon in due course. The Linwood Licensing Committee, asking, the Board to request the Hon. the <3olonial Secretary to communicate with- ;t # tJefoye granting' any application that rn&yjb^'feoade for a club jb A complain! was m&de of eertfcia' alleged disorderly houses. Resolved, on the motion of Commissioner Pentecost,, seconded by Commissioner Smith, to communicate with the police in the matter. Re Mr J. Wadworth's claim, it was decided to inform hiifn that the Board is advised that it cannot entertain it. The Finance Committee reported—"TKeestlmaxecl receipts azid expeßOitnre for tihe year 1891-92 z»r>e presented .sEsewjn^ Ni!Ui!iifll,iiieii)iiiJiiii amount. The valuation has ipcreaaed by £6700. It was resolved on the motion of Commissioner Hardie, seconded: by Commissioner Atkinson, to terminate tne appointment of the present dog ranger and appoint the poundkeeper in hia place. Tfte estimates were approved and the report adopted. Resolved, to hold a special meeting on the 26th inst. to receive the accounts for the past year, and on the Bth June to make the rates. The next ordinary meeting to be held on the 26th instant instead of the 25th. ; Resolved, on the motion of Commissioner Hardie, seconded by Commissioner Atkinson — ** Thftt the Colonial Secretary be requested not to grants charters for Clube in this town district, aij the existence of such in this district would be in direct opposition to the expressed wishes and desires of a large majority of the ratepayers, who are of opinion the establishing of each Clubs is wholly-unnecessary, and would prove hurtful to the entire community." The Inspector's report was read and approved, and the meeting terminated.
