An attempt has lately been made to raise the prices of photographs, but owing to our opposition the attempt was unsuccessful. Our reply to the deputation wait to the following effect:—l. That we were the last to reuuee prices. 2. That thfere is still 50 per ceut. profit on good work at oar charges. 3. That by recent improvements photography has become co simple that ie i 9 now only deserving of trade profits, and photographers are not justified in charging the public 800 to 400 per cent, profit as of old, when photography was a profession requiring years of study. 4. That at our present prices we are enabled to pay the best rent and salaries, besides the extra expenses accruing to a public company, and will be able to meet our shareholders with a substantial dividend at the close of our financial year. Some photographers, in order to get larger prices, state that it is impossible to finish work at our charges, but we refer the public to the gigantic show of brilUantlT finished photos in our vestibule, which are specimens of our every day work, and we challenge comparison ■with the photographs of Lord Onslow, Sir Win. Jervois, Bishop Julius, J. L. Toole, Esq., and other well-known personages now on view at our entrance. We do by far the lararest business in New Zealand, and attribute our success to a constant production of elegantly posed and well-finished photos, and by not ' making extra charges to visitors from the country. We have one regular price, and supply ONE DOZEN CABINETS, beautifully enamelled, taken and finished in anj efcyle or position, for 15s. MH)GET~ALBUMS. .
