GRAIN AND PROD IT CE.

Gables from Europe continue to report _«trong and buoyant wheat market, and § rices here again show a material advance, everal fairly large transactions have taken place durinjjthe week at full rates, but fehe majority of holders are confident of further improvement and are consequently refraining from offering. Chickwbeat has also moved upwards in sympathy with the milling grades, there being very-it-le in tbe maritefc. o«ts are without the slightest change ot symptom of improvement, and values are still in a nominal state. Severe weather in the South la causing serious damage to tbe crops there, and should any enquiry set in shortly from Australia there Is a faint bope tbat prices may again rise to a reasonable level. For barley there ia notttie slightest demand, aud future prospects are anything but encouraging to either growers or holders. Business i» both ryegrass seed and cocksfoot is now very limited, but there has bees no drop in price, as the demand for spring ia expected to be pretty keen. Sales pi potatoes for near delivery have been at the quotation given below, but merchants, finding It almost Impossible to do business with Bydney, are spiritless, and not inclined to operate with any freedom. Large offerings of beans were made during the week, but met with a very disappointing response. Peas also are very difficult to move. Butter does not show any change for better or for worse, and the same remarks apply to cheese. Although there have been one or two showers of late, the country is sadly in want of a good spell of rain to facilitate farm work.
