{MOSS A-SOOIATIOH __t_9a4-ts.l AUCKLAND, AprU 22. The City Council held a special meeting to-night, when J_r De Castro, representing a New Zealand electrical Syndicate, laid before them the proposals of that body for the lighting of Auckland by electricity. Discus-ion of the subject was adjourned, however, fill the Council had received a copy o! the Bill which the Syndicate intend to submit to Parliament, and until they had heard the opinion of their solicitor as to its provisions. The Hon. <x. McLean arrived to-day from the South, on his way to Sydney, regarding the San Francisco mail service aad the amalgamation of the Union and Tasmania-, Snipping Companies. The Boyal Humane Society havo appointed Mr Jackson Palmer, -C_L_k, as their representative iv the place of the late Mr U. C. Barstow.
A Maori named Papeta committed suicide at Tairua by hanging himself to the rafters of his whare. NAPEER, April 22. For shooting quail out of season a man was flood in the Besident Magistrate's Court to day Jg-0 and £3 10s costs.
