, Wednesday, April 22. (Before R. Beetham, Esq., R.M.) Railway By-laws.—John Butterfield, Emily ay lor, and Annie Campbell were chawed with having, on April 2nd, got on at Christchurch station to the 3.45* p.m. south train while the train was in motion. There was no defence. The case was not a serious one, and as the parties had to come from Springfield to answer the summons they were only fined the nominal sum of Is with costs.—John Campbeil, for driving, on April 7th, a horse and cart over.the the Colombo street railway level crossing while a train was approaching was fined 40s with costs.
Disorderly Licensed House.—John Ingram, licensee of the Provincial Hotel, Casnel street, was charged with having Sermitted his premises to be used as a rotbel. Also with allowing the premises to be the habitual resort of reputed prostitutes. On the application of Mr Slater the cases were adjourned till April 29th. Undersized Flounders. — In the adjourned case against JR. M. Griffiths a fish auctioneer, for selling undersized flounders, a further aajournmenc was granted till May 6th. Affiliation.—George Early, who did not appear, was ordered to pay 7s per week towards the maintenance nf his illegitimate child, with £3 expenses.
