TIME BALL, LYTTELTON.
The time ball is dropped daily. Sundays ,md holidays excepted, at 1 o'clock p.m., Hew Zealand mean time, which is equivalent to 13.30 Greenwich mean time of the previous day, being calculated for the 178* 30 East Longitude, and llhr 30mln fast of Greenwich mean time. The ball will be raised at about 2min to 1 p.m., and will be at the top abont Lmin to 1 p.m. When taking the time be careful to note the exact moment the ball leaves the top of the mast. bhould the ball not drop at the proper tune, it will be kept at the top for at least Wo minutes, and then lowered slowly.
