HORORATA SCHOOL.
The distribution of prizes to the scholar* of the Hororata school took place at fchfi Public Hall, on Friday. A bountiful tea had been provided by the Committee, to which both parents and children were invited. Sir John Hall, in addressing tha meeting, urged the parents to send thels children to school regularly. He complimented the successful scholars, and urged them all to work with all their might. He was pleased to see tbat more attention was to be given in our schools to the science of agriculture, and hoped to see them gaining prizes in that subject another year. He then awarded the prizes as follows:—*-
Pass Prizes —Standard VL-— Lizzie Steele. Standard IV. —George Steele, Kate Da vies. Standard lII.— Samuel Steele, Harry Barson, Fred Tizsard, Seliaa Somervllle, Lizzie Hartnell. Ruth Hodg« son, Willie Somerviile, Harry Percy, Florry Thwaites, Lilla Riches, Frank Barson, Ethel Baker, Cecil Thorns. Standard ll.—Willie Morgan, Harry Ballah, Annie Barson, Nellie TlzzaJrd, Hectic Griffiths, Ida Baker, Sydnej Thwaites, Agnes Keltic. Standard L--Nellie Hartnell, Donald Morgan, Victos Maffey, Mary Ballah, Maggie Browaiie, Li_z_e Prestidge, Alex. Percy, Nellie Baker, Jane Davies, Clement Derrett, Thomas Keltic, George Brownlie. Attendance Prizes—Within one mile, Lizzie Nelson; two miles, Bertie Maffey and Mabel Maffey; three miles, Mary Ann Davies.
Special Prizes—Master's prize for writ Ing and drawing, Agnes Pickering: ml* tress' prize for good attendance, Robert Halliburton. Second class attendance certificate, were awarded to Samuel Steele and Robert Halliburton. Th© la* fants all received picture books. Cheers were given for Sir John Hall, Lady Hall, the Committee, and teachers, and the proceedings terminated.
