Meeting the weather waa extremely warm —a thorough midsummer day. There was ouly a moderate attendance, including the Governor and party. On the strength of Tuesday's running, the whilom New Zealander, Kneecap, was installed favorite for the Second Hurdles, and Carey, the Ballarat jockey, had the raouut. KLueecap, however, was never in the huut, Mr Miller's Sain cutting out the runaiiig for his stable companion, Piugaxa, at sucii a pace as to completely settle the field. Iv the Nursery Handicap Huxley was up on the favourite, whilst Hales, won easily. Both jockeys were recipients of a very hostile demonstration ou returning to bcale. Despite the fact that 100 to 6 was ou oiler about Marvel when the flag fell for the Aututnu Handicap, he had Twen heavily backed before, IuUO to 40 being taken on one hand, but the ownei's complain about being left iv the lurch over the transaction.
