HEREFORD STREET EAST.
About twenty minutes to nine o'clock last night tie stables and coach-house belonging to Dr. Ovenden, situated in Hereford street East, were completely destroyed by fire. On the alarm being given from box 20 both the Christchurcn and .Railway Brigades were smartly on the spot, and the plant of the Christchurch Brigade wag at once in operation, but owing to the great distance from water, it was some time before any was brought to play upon the flre. It is understood that the buildings were insured, but for what amount is not stated.
