(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELKQEAMS.) ; AUCKLAND, March 4. A movement is on foot to establish a Plumpton Park in Auckland, and a Committee is being formed to raise subscriptions, &c. Three hounds for the Pakaranga Hunt Club were imported from England by the ship Blenheim. The Hon. A. W. Caiman arrived in Auckland to-day. , The steamer Wairarapa, from Sydney, reports having passed a number of kauri logs floating in the sea on the 27th ultimo, when one day out. WELLINGTON, March 4.
The Minister of Public Works will attend the opening ceremony of the (Jorge .line on Monday next, 9th met., and the Railway Commissionere have arranged for special trains at cheap rates to enable the residents of "Wellington, Hawke's Bay, and the West Coast of the. North Island also to be present. The excursionists will leave for Woodville by early trains in tide morning* returning home the same evening. The Auckland, Timaro, Blenheim, Masterton, and Christehttrch Municipal Councils have communicated with the local Council approving of the Jaunicipal Conference proposed to be held here in June, and intimating that they will send delegates. In the Supreme Court Frederick - Fitzgerald was sentenced to twelve months for false pretences. Edward Bishop, charged with house-breaking, was acquitted.
