TRINITY CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
The twenty-seventh anniversary ot tot, above church was celebrated on Soadljr by special services, and last night) by to* and public meeting. On Sunday the Jfafy. W. baunders, of Moray Place, Danedilte preached in the morning and in the even«! ing, and the children's service, which KOQJ? place in the afternoon, was conducted &y the tiev. C Hoatson. There waa a folsly large attec dance at the tea, which waa spread in the schoolroom, and ac th« public meeting held subsequently Iα the chur h. The annual report was read jw. the Secretary, Mr Coliender, It sCateoß that while the year presented no marked features it had been one of steady and pex*. sistent work. There had been an aoces* siou of eleven members to the roll, bafl owing to various causes twelve had toea removed, and one of their member* (Met Harband) who was for nearly twenty years iv fellowship with them had paeaed away. The total number on Che roll was now 187, or two less than in the previous year. The total receipts had been for the past three years as under: —1888, £697 Ids; im,£mu 7d; and 1890, am IBs. sd. In 1889 a special sum of £245 WAS received from donations and the JUadJM» Association towards the reduction of fi%a Church building debt. The Church had to face a dencib of £40, but special dona* tions to meet this amounted to nearly £35, leaving the actual sum required si 17s dd. A slight increase in the offerings, say of £1 per week, would free the Church from such a difficulty. The report opok* with satisfaction of the work of th* Ladies' Association, the Sunday eshQol. the Young People's Association, find briefly referred to the different meet* ings connected with foreign missions. Atxer the reading of the above report, the Rev. J. Hoataon spoke upon "The Spiritual Life of the Church, What It Iβ, and What It Should Be," the Rev. W. O. Oliver on " Sabbath Privileges, Responsibilities, and Opportunities," and the B®v. C. H. Bradbury on "Church Life." The Rev. H. T. Robjohns, who was another visitor, and who, as the Australian agent of the Bible Society, is here on his aoottal visit, made a few appropriate remarks* In the course of the evening the choir sea* tributed the authems, "It Iβ time Co awake," "Jfinter not into judgment," and " Abide with mc." The pulpit, platform rails, and several of the gaeoliera were prettily decorated with flowers, and poS plants placed in prominent position* added to the pleasing elfect produced, J&Jf thU floral display.
